This is an example, not a real auction. No bird, member, price or rating on this page exists. It is here so you can see what an auction looks like once it has run — the results, the lot sheet behind one of them, and what the buyers wrote afterwards — before you have bid on anything yourself. Nothing here can be bought, and no seller shown is a member.

What the buyers wrote afterwards

Once the birds have arrived, the buyer scores the seller on four things and adds a comment in their own words. Ratings are public and permanent, they survive a deleted lot, and the seller may answer any one of them beneath it. A buyer who would rather not be named can publish theirs anonymously.

Birds exactly as described and as photographed, and the ring numbers matched the sheet. Answered every question before I bid. Box was a little tight for four, but they travelled well and arrived in good condition.

The four scores average into the one number a bidder sees on a lot. Because a running lot does not name its seller, that number and the comments behind it are what a bidder judges them on.
