What we do, and what we do not do
Aviara provides the venue. Every sale is concluded directly between the buyer and the seller — we are not a party to it, we do not own or hold the birds, and we never see them. That is as true of a price agreed on the Trades board, where a member asks for birds and another offers them, as it is of a lot knocked down on an auction.
We do not handle the purchase price. When a lot sells, the buyer pays the seller directly. Money for a lot never passes through Aviara, and members must not route it through us. The only payment we receive is our own commission of 5% of the selling price, which the seller pays us on an invoice we issue.
We check lot sheets before they go onto an auction, and we may reject a lot for any reason. That check is not an inspection of the birds and not a verification of a seller's permits or documents — what we do and do not verify is set out in the auction rules.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, write to accounts@aviara.africa with the lot number and what happened. We answer every complaint, and we would much rather hear about a problem than have you carry it. If your complaint is about another member, tell us — a member who does not honour the rules does not stay on the platform.
